This hawk unfortunately hit a plate glass panel on our porch. I heard it and ran
out on the porch to see if I could save the bird, and found it was too
big for me to approach at the moment. As I watched and photographed,
it began to move, pulled itself up, and stood up quite still for
some time, then began to look around and as I was looking for second
at my camera, quickly flew to the arbor over the driveway. I had
a lot of photos by then and I knew he was going to be all right. I didn't get
a photograph of his departure.
But was it a Cooper's or Sharp-shinned?
I thought Cooper's from the size of the bird and particularly the
size of the head. But the tail, very worn, seemed to be straight
across.
